My favorite seminar in graduate school was actually a workshop. Each week, one student would circulate a draft, and another would offer a formal response. Everyone in the class, however, came prepared—"knives out," we used to say—to offer feedback. It was vulnerable to share unfinished work. But my work always improved through the collaborative process.
In a world increasingly impacted by artificial intelligence, your work deserves human attention. Whether helping you mold an early draft into a publishable article, or put the finishing touches on a book manuscript for submission to a press, my goal as your editor is to ensure that your ideas emerge as clearly and persuasively as possible—and, importantly, in your own voice.
